Blue and Beautiful

Hi everyone!  I can't seem to find a before picture of this one, but you probably have seen this style many times before.  It was the usual cream and gold color.  This one stayed in my garage a while.  It was stuck behind some other projects I had going on.  I finally got it out and went to work!

I mixed up the color myself.  I just played with a bunch of leftovers until I was satisfied.  I LOVE this color!  I loved it so much that I actually went and had a gallon made of it.

I didn't do anything to the hardware but wash it.  I thought it looked pretty just the way it was:)

On a side note, I finally signed up for a show!  It's not until September, but I am super excited.  The only other show that I have done, was just a craft show.  This one will mostly be my furniture and decor!

Music To My Eyes

I have had this little desk a while.  I found it at one of the thrift shop that I frequent.  It had some damage to the top, so the price was good.  I didn't exactly know what I wanted to do with it, so it sat while others got their makeovers.  Finally, while I was going through some stuff, I found a bunch of my vintage music sheets.  I knew exactly what I wanted to do:)

 Before

You can see that it is a leather top.  There was a couple of chunks taken out, so I filled it with a couple of layers of putty.

 After

I painted it with Lincoln's Hat by American Paint Company.  I am really trying to use all of my paint,  I found a stockist who is stocking Vintage Market & Design Furniture Paint.  It is a less expensive chalk paint.  I think I need one of every color!

Pictures are before the top coat was put on.  I was running out of day light!

I changed out the middle drawer's hardware.

I wish I had room for it!

I remember not too long ago, I wasn't really into black furniture.  Now it's my go to color!

Black Victrola Cabinet

I was in line at one of my favorite thrift shops the other day, when I noticed this awesome cabinet by the checkout.  I knew exactly what it was, I was just hoping the price tag was reasonable!  Even before the 50% off, it was a deal.  SCORE!!!!!

Before

The top had two layers of veneer that needed to come off.  Have I told you how much I hate taking off veneer??? I usually end up bloody by the end of it!

I used Lincoln's Hat by American Paint Company.  I love this paint.  The coverage is great.  I only needed one coat and then a few touch ups.

Love the hardware.  I got it at Hobby Lobby.

I think this would make a super cute liquor cabinet.  Don't you?

Grey Dresser/Bookcase

Hello everyone!  I hope that you all had a fabulous weekend!  Mine was spent going to Disneyland and having a 6th birthday party for little guy!  Busy, but fun!

I found this bookcase/dresser on FB.  I must have been on right at the right time, because there was a lot people that wanted it.  I was so excited that I scored it!  Someone had spray painted it and didn't do such a good job, so there was a ton of sanding to be done.  I wasn't able to get all of the drip marks off on the spindles, but I just worked with it anyway.

Before

After

I mixed up some homemade chalk paint with a grey that I had.  I have a ridiculous amount of paint that needs to be used.  We just went through our garage, and I have about 3 full cabinets full.  I am going to try to use it before I buy anymore.  We will see how that goes:)

I have been holding onto this adorable contact paper that I found.  When I saw this piece, I knew it was perfect for it.

I hope you all have a great week.  We are having a huge community yard sale where I live, so hopefully, I will find some treasures!

So Beachy

Hello everyone!  I have been so bad about keeping up with my blog.  I seem to forget to take photos before my furniture leaves for it's new home.  I am going to try to stay on top of it.  Not only for you, but for me too. Every girl needs a diary, right?

I don't have a before picture.  Long story short is that my phone had some issues and most of my pictures are gone, so for the next couple of posts there will be no before photos:(

Here is the longer version of what it looked like.

And here is the after!

I knew immediately that what I was going to do with this.  It screamed "beach" to me, so I mixed up a batch of homemade chalk paint with an oops grey that I had.  Then I went to Home Depot and picked out a 4 blue samples.

Staying with the beach theme, I used some rope to replace the hardware.

Love the darkest blue.

I have recently used "real" chalk paint.  I know most of you have used both DIY and store bought.  What are some of your opinions on the difference?   I cannot express how much I loved using the "real" stuff.  It went on so smooth and then when I sanded, it felt like butta!!! I think that this may have opened a can of worms for me.  I will probably blow my whole budget on getting my hands on every color!!
