Pretty in Black

I have a confession to make... I am not a fan of black furniture.  Or should I say that I was not a fan of black furniture.  I have been converted!!!  Let's take a little look at my latest adventure!

Here is the before.

I found this dresser at my local Salvation Army on half priced day.  I was so excited to see that it didn't need that much prep work.  You will understand after I finish this project that I have been working on for over a month.

I had mixed feelings on what color to paint it, so I went to Home Depot.  I was torn between green and black.  I thought stepping out of my box would be a good idea.

I ended up going with Francesca by Martha Stewart.  It is such an awesome black.  Not too in your face shiny black that I am not a fan of...

Here is what it looks like today.

Color me crazy, but I was shocked how much I actually liked it!

I wasn't able to save the little lattice, but that's okay.  It just peeled right off.

I kept the hardware. I just cleaned it up using vinegar and dish soap.  I'm always amazed how much stuff comes off.

I love this color so much that the monster that I have been working on will be painted with it!

XOXO
Wendy

  2. What a classic beauty - perfect in black! I love the distressing too! And black is not my favorite color to work with, but I'm doing a custom piece for a client in black today and I'm kind of falling in love with it too! I guess it's good to step out of our comfort zone every once in a while!

Saw this on MMS FFF and I have never commented on a piece. You did wonderful and I LOVE it! I love how you hit all the raised edges with distressing and I am glad the lattice fell off :) I love the hardware also. Awesome! I like black and would love this piece in my home!
