Thrifty Redos

Good Afternoon everyone.  I hope that you all had a great weekend.  Third week into school and we already caught a cold.  We spent the whole weekend locked up inside our house trying to recuperate. Gotta love children and all the germs they bring home with them huh? GRRR...

On to the fun stuff...

I found both of these little guys at a local thrift shop.

I wanted to paint the mirror on the wall hanger with chalk board paint, but I accidently broke the mirror, so I just went with out.

Here is the after.

I painted it with a some aqua paint that I had on hand and just distressed it.  I did remove the hardware first.  I just soaked it in vinegar for about 30 minutes.  Very easy.

Here is the little table.

Even though I used chalk paint on it, it was very shiny, so I made sure that I sanded it very well.  Next I painted it in black paint and then gave it a coat of grey paint.  Then I used a stencil that I had for the top, and then I distressed it.

I have a question for you gals.  Have any of you ever held a sale at your house?  I was thinking of doing a yard sale with all my fun finds.  My concern is that people would be turned off by higher prices.  I would love to hear about your experiences.

XOXO
Wendy

  1. Hi! You had left a comment on my blog, but you come up as a no-reply blogger so I couldn't answer you back. You had asked if blue sells well in my area--I have to say I think so. I looked back to what I have painted and quite a few pieces have been blue. I didn't realize how much I had been using blue! I thought I had been painting green more--which also sells well. I just kind of go with what paint I have laying around and if I think the piece would look good in it and if I think the color will be good coverage.
    Thanks!
