The Queen of Hearts!

Over Christmas I took a break from painting furniture.  I put all of my effort and time into making memories with my children.  We did everything from Christmas crafts to attending 3 different cookie decorating parties.  We had a blast.  The holidays are so fun now that my babies are old enough to understand. They are already asking about next year.

The day after Christmas, I went out to my garage and grabbed this bookshelf that I had bought last month.  At first glance, I thought it was okay.  I am not much of a heart person, and it had one on each side.  Then I looked a the legs.  The legs were too cute to stay at the thrift store.

Here is the before.

Here is the after.

I love how she (Yes, she is a she.  Look at the those legs.) turned out!  As I said before, I am not a heart person.  By putting the paper on the back of it, your eye goes there instead of to the sides.

I always have such a hard time letting go of the pieces that I do.  I know I will have to let her go, but I may just put a big price sticker on her, so I can keep her for a while.

XOXO
Wendy

  9. What a beautiful bookcase you've created. I love the color, and the lovely swirly design of the backing that you've used--very pretty! You styled the shelves very nicely as well! I can see why you'd want to keep this one:)

  11. This turned out great! I've got an old cabinet that's dark and dreary. As soon as the weather warms up I'm going to be painting it. I was going to paint it a different color on the inside, but your's with the wallpaper lining has me reconsidering. Especially since it turned out so pretty! Maybe I should do something like that instead of paint. Thanks for the inspiration.

  12. Beautiful! Looks great with the paper! Funny, I love hearts, but not on furniture, but you can hardly tell they are there :)

  13. I love it - especially the legs!
You could easily hide the hearts with wooden appliques (just saying, because personally I kind of like them on this piece )
